「4倍の処理能力」の実力は?シンVPSの最安値プランをベンチマーク比較

「競合VPSの4倍の処理能力」というシンVPSが、どれくらい処理能力が高いのかUnixBenchmarksを使ってベンチマークし、他社VPSサービスと比較しました。
※ 本記事を作成するにあたって、シンVPS様から512MBプランを無償提供していただいております。ただし、本記事の作成は当サイト単独で独自に行なっており、サーバーの評価はベンチマークの数値のみで判断しているため、無料提供は評価に全く影響しておりません。
「4倍の処理能力」なシンVPSとは?
エックスサーバー系のサーバー事業会社「シンクラウド株式会社」が運営するVPSサービス。
収容物理サーバーがAMDのEPYCサーバーを採用することで、他社VPSサービスと比較して、
- CPU処理能力が約4.2倍
- ディスク性能が約5.7倍
としています(共に、シンVPS調べ)。
それくらい高速なサーバーなら、最安値プランである512MBプランでも、他社VPSサービスの512MBプランより上位のプランに匹敵するのではないか?と思ったユーザーの方も多いのではないでしょうか。
今回、シンVPS様から512MBプランの試用提供をいただいたので、ベンチマークをして記事としてまとめました。
ベンチマーク方法
Linuxサーバーでは定番のUnixBenchmarksを使いました。
比較したのは、
- シンVPS:512MBプラン(一番安いプラン)
- A社VPS(Sandy Bridge世代)
- B社VPS(Icelake世代)
この3つのサービスです。なお、シンVPSの512MBプランにはSWAP設定してあります。
まず最初にシンVPSの512MBプランのUnixBenchmarksスコアを取得し、A社VPSとB社VPSは、そのスコアの近似値が出るまで、一つ上のプランを順番にベンチマークしていきました。
ベンチマーク比較
シンVPS 512MBプラン vs A社VPS(Sandy Bridge世代)
まずはSandy Bridge世代とかなり古いサーバーを使っているA社のVPSと比較しました。ここは単月契約で月額500円未満のプランがあり、低価格VPSとして人気です。

Sandy Bridge世代なA社VPSと比較すると、シンVPS 512MBプランは「4コア・4GBプランと6コア・8GBプランの間の性能」ということがわかります。
単純に同等プランで比較すると3倍くらいの差ですが、ベンチマークスコアが同等のプランでスペック比較すると、コア数とメモリ容量が両者で4〜5倍くらいの違いがあるため、シンVPSのいう「他社よりCPU処理能力が約4.2倍」というのは、妥当ということがわかります。
なお参考までに、A社VPS4コア・4GBプランの単月契約料金は1,500円オーバー、6コア・8GBプランは3,000円オーバーです。
シンVPS 512MBプランは、単月契約だと900円、長期利用契約で実質月額630円(36ヶ月契約時)まで下がるため、同等性能のVPSをA社の半額以下の料金で運用できるということになります。
シンVPS 512MBプラン vs B社VPS(Icelake世代)
続いて、Icelake世代のXeonサーバーを採用しているB社VPSと比較します。

同じ1コア・512MBプランとの比較では25%ほど高い数値。流石にIcelake世代のXeonと比較すると、2コア・1GBプランではベントマークスコア上は完敗です。
料金的には、B社の1コア・512MBプランは単月契約時は月額500円程度、シンVPS 512MBプランは単月契約で月額900円程度。
UnixBenchと料金だけで判断すると、B社VPSの方がややコスパが高いと言えます。
結論:シンVPSは比較するVPS次第で「4倍の処理能力」である
ここまでのベンチマークの通り、シンVPSは、比較するVPSサービスが旧世代のXeonサーバーで運用されていれば、「4倍以上の処理能力」であると言えます。
一方で、どんなVPSサービスに対しても4倍の処理能力かというとそうではなく、比較的新しい世代のCPUを搭載したVPSサーバーと比較すると、むしろコスパが悪くなるケースもありました。
ただ、収容サーバーがどの世代のCPUを搭載しているかは公表されていないケースが多く、またインスタンスを作成した時に、割り振られるサーバーの世代がランダムで変わるケースもあります。
その点、シンVPSは採用しているサーバーの性能がわかっているため「確実に性能がわかる」という意味で安心して契約できるVPSサーバーと言えるでしょう。
